Book Review: The Lightbearers By Nora M. Garcia

“I was provided this book by AuthorHouse Book Publishing to review, however, all opinions are ones I formed on my own"

***The Good Reads Synopsis
THE LIGHTBEARERS is the story of an ancient Egyptian King and Queen, Akhenaton and Nefertiti, who have been reincarnating together for the past 3300 years. They have been entrusted with the mission of The Lightbearers, whose responsibility is to be guardians of the human race and to enlighten any whose path they cross. Through reincarnation, during each of their lifetimes, they strive to overcome violence, greed and injustice and in each lifetime they leave pockets of individuals with whom they have shared their secrets of life and death. They have also been ascribed with the powers of telepathy, astral projection and psycho kinesis. They are highly evolved and highly enlightened.

Discovery of their innate mystical powers is facilitated by the assistance of an alien being who introduces them to the mission of the Lightbearer. Through a series of flashbacks two of their previous lifetimes are revealed beginning in Ancient Egypt and including 17th century France where they switched genders.

The story unfolds in the 21st century where Jean Crystal, Nefertiti’s incarnate, has been kidnapped by Dr. Natas, whose plan for world domination has been temporarily disrupted by Jean and her husband George, Akhenaten’s incarnate. Jean and George have discovered a secret about Dr. Natas experimental school, a school completely computerized and robotized.

My personal review.
If I am honest, at first glance, I was hesitant to actually read this once I discovered it was based on reincarnation and that is an ideology that goes against my personal beliefs, but once I thought about it and decided that since I love Twilight and Harry Potter and do not believe that Vampires are running around all sparkly(gasp;), I allowed myself to engage more thoroughly in the story and appreciate her ability to bring the reader in.

I liked the characters, even though at some points I wanted to know more in depth background and other times...a little less detail. It was intriguing and somewhat unique concept that I haven't read before and had the usual good guys/bad guys scenario but playing out through different centuries and periods of history.  The author has a very vivid imagination and I was able to conjure up views in my mind to play along with the story as I was reading it.

The only problem I had was keeping up towards the end, I felt like she was wrapping up story lines that were barely touched on and yet others, were played out into specifics that were not necessary

Overall I found myself captivated by the premise behind the book and believe there will be more... and I would read them in the hopes that the story will be pulled together to form a more complete picture.

I gave this review a 3.5 out of 5 stars

Kisses From Katie

I know I have been slightly MIA lately and I apologize, we've been travelling fools lately...shocking I know. Haha I have been documenting them all and hope to put together some travel posts soon. Mayberry(yep, real place people) or actually "Mt. Airy" but where it was based on and the stuff is everywhere, the museum and I got to sit in Floyd's barber chair. Plus we visited six vineyards on our trip, then we went to Boston and New Hampshire and most recently to Seattle. Fun times.

But rest assured I have still been making tasty treats and will hopefully post them soon. But I wanted to take a second to plug a book I recently read that pulled at my heart strings. "Kisses From Katie" the book follows a teenage girl who found her heart being beckoned by the Lord to travel to Uganda to bring hope, love and compassion to the people. She ended up adopting 13 girls along the way. I laughed and cried the whole way through this amazing story.

You can follow her adventures here kisses from katie, the blessings that will be bestowed upon you from her daunting courage and self effacing demeanor is mind blowing. I promise you won't regret it.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens

although most probably know him by his pen name, "Mark Twain" just a little know author;)

as I have said, I heart reading. I always halt slightly whenever someone asks me what book I'm reading now. If there is not a book in hand, then "right now" I'm more than likely between books. It actually pains me to start a book and head for slumber before the conclusion. It is definitely in my favor that I read exceptionally fast and therefore fit a substantial amount of  books in a week. It is not unheard of for me to read 8-10 in 5 or so days. Other than cooking it is my escape and I love to immerse myself in the books, imagine myself as a player in their life.

This book is one that is of another level.

Wiki surprised me w/it for my birhday last year. I have yet to finish it. It is that in depth, that brain fogging that I can only spend a few hours at a time absorbing his genius. I cannot wait to finally finish it. To fully comprehend what complexities his mind held.

This is one of my favorite excerpts...

I can't tell you how much I love this book. It is probably one of my favorite gifts he ever gave me, mainly b/c I never established how much I wanted it...he just sometimes knows me better than I know myself. He has gotten annoyed b/c I've yet to finish it and have read probably 200 books in the meantime, but it is simply b/c I want to savor it.
