This is Negroni Week which makes my Italian husband very happy. A Negroni is one of his favorite cocktails to order, especially in the summer on a late afternoon before dinner. This drink is very much a classic and is also very simple to make.
This is where I mention that, while I may make this for my husband or a few friends, it's a little too bitter for my taste. However, I do usually add a little orange juice to mine and it cuts down on the bitterness. But then you really don't have a negroni anymore and I want to show you the proper way first before you gomaking it delicious wrecking it to make something completely different.
My husband promises you will like it. (notice I didn't, but he usually has better taste than I do so let's get that out of the way right here and now;)
Negroni
1 part gin
1 part Campari
1 part sweet vermouth
Stir together in an old fashioned glass over the rocks and garnish with an orange peel.
I sometimes dredge my orange peel in sugar and then I don't have to add the oj and it still counts as a Negroni, right? RIGHT?!

Haha! I am with you on the sugar to the peel making it less bitter. Good thinking.
